An 18th-century cordial glass is a small drinking vessel specifically designed for serving potent liqueurs or cordials, typically characterised by a modest bowl capacity and various stem formations popular during the Georgian era.

These pieces were typically handcrafted from lead glass or potash-lime metal, utilising free-blown and sometimes mould-blown techniques, often featuring folded or domed feet for added stability.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-specific manufacturing characteristics such as pontil marks on the underside, wear scratches on the base, irregularities in the metal, and tool marks consistent with eighteenth-century handcrafting methods.

Antique glassware can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, on open shelving with adequate illumination, or used purposefully during special occasions to add historical texture to a table setting.

Antique glass should be washed by hand using warm water and mild detergent, avoiding harsh chemicals, extreme temperature changes, and abrasive sponges to protect the delicate historical surface.
