Victorian Rosewood Writing Slope

19th century
Description

A very attractive writing slope in rosewood that dates to around 1840

In fantastic original condition with a deep rich waxed finish with a strong grain configuration and pewter stringing inserts

It has a mother of pearl cartouche and escutcheon and a working lock and key

With an ox blood and gold embossed leather skiver and comes with a pair of screw top brass glass inkwells

A divider to the left of the pen tray can be raised to release a secret drawer

It measures 12 inches wide, 9 inches deep and 4 inches high

A desirable quality slope that would make a nice present for a loved one
