Good Light English Oak Early Georgian Small Grandfather Longcase Clock

Circa 1760

Height 76.25in or 194cm - Ideal if you have a low ceiling

The Finely Engraved Gilt Brass Dial is Inscribed for John Ramsbottom. He was the first of 8 or 9 Ramsbotton Clockmakers in the Hall Green, Wakefield & Surrounding Area of Yorkshire that Continued Well Into The Later Half of the 19th Century.

He was Born Circa 1720 and died Circa 1780. Bring the first, he did not add a Town Name.

The Castle Gate Design Gilt Brass Corner Spandrels are typical of the 1760-1785 period. The Centre Finely Engraved with Floral Swirls and An Urn Full of Flowers. That Compliment the Silvered Chapter Ring & Date Dial Window.

The Case naturally has Signs of its Age but is of Good Colour and Patination As Well As Being in Good Sound Solid Condition.

The 30 Hour Movement Has been Checked, Serviced & Tested - Good Working Order.

Mahogany Turned Hood Columns With Gilt Brass Capitals.

Working Lock to The Full Length Trunk Door with Shaped Top. Elm Back Board. All Raised on a Deep Plinth Base.
