Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

A Georgian toothpick box is a small, elongated container specifically designed to protect and store personal dental hygiene instruments during the 18th and early 19th centuries.

These boxes were frequently crafted from wood, bone, ivory, or papier-mache, often covered in leather or tortoiseshell and embellished with precious metals such as gold or silver.

Authenticity is typically determined by examining the construction techniques, the nature of the hinges and clasps, the patina of the materials, and the presence of period-appropriate metalwork.

This type of small object is well suited for display inside glass cabinets, on top of decorative books on a coffee table, or arranged on a traditional desk.

Preservation requires keeping the item away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, and occasionally treating leather with a specialist microcrystalline wax.
