Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

The Regency style, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1830, drew heavy inspiration from classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian architecture, characterised by clean lines, classical proportions, and the use of exotic timbers like maple and rosewood.

Furniture from this era typically employed native and imported hardwoods such as maple, mahogany, and oak, utilising traditional joinery like mortise and tenon, often accented with hand-turned elements, brass inlays, or carved crossbars.

Authentic pieces usually display period-correct hand-cut joinery, appropriate patination and wear consistent with age, traditional horsehair or modern sympathetic upholstery methods over webbing, and distinctive classical silhouettes such as sabre legs or curved top rails.

Pairing these classical chairs with a contemporary minimalist dining table creates a striking contrast that highlights their craftsmanship, while their warm wood tones add depth and historical character to a neutral modern space.

Maintain antique wooden seating by keeping them away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and nourish the polished wood periodically with high-quality beeswax rather than modern silicone sprays.
