FAQs

The Arts and Crafts movement, emerging in the late 19th century, prioritised traditional craftsmanship, simple forms, and natural materials over mass-produced industrial items.

Makers of this era predominantly utilised solid native timbers such as oak, often featuring visible grain, mortails and tenons, and minimal applied ornamentation to highlight the natural medium.

Authenticity is typically verified by traditional joinery methods, hand-carved details, unmachined wood surfaces, and appropriate period hardware or fixings.

This piece works well in character spaces or contemporary rooms as a statement storage item, pairing effectively with neutral walls and other organic textures like wool or leather.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a dry cloth, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity fluctuations, and occasionally applying a traditional beeswax polish.
