Metamorphic Library Steps & Side Chair C.1880

Description

Late 19th.c. metamorphic library steps and side chair in oak c.1880. Slightly curving backrest with shaped stretchers, the top one pierced with a handgrip, over a shaped seat. Backrest and seat fold over to form a set of library steps with four steps plus a thinner half step to use as a handle. The top full step is 31" from the ground. Usual pierced decoration to the sides, shaped front legs and stretcher. Iron hinges and metal locking stays to both sides. Very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
