FAQs

Treen refers to small, functional domestic wooden objects made before the widespread use of plastics and mass production, often turned on a lathe.

Makers typically used dense domestic hardwoods such as sycamore, boxwood, beech, and fruitwoods like plum or pear, chosen for their stability and fine grain.

Authenticity is indicated by tool marks from hand-turning, shrinkage cracks, natural wear patterns, and a warm, aged patina developed through centuries of handling.

These pieces add organic warmth and texture, and work well when grouped on open shelving, sideboards, or kitchen worktops alongside ceramics and glass.

Keep wooden treen out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to prevent splitting, and clean only with a dry, soft cloth, avoiding water or harsh chemicals.
