Metamorphic Library Steps & Side Chair C.1860

Description

Mid 19th.c. metamorphic library steps and side chair in cherry wood c.1860. Curving backrest and stretchers over a canework seat with a shaped apron below and raised on front legs with a slight curve at the feet. Backrest and seat fold over to form a set of library steps with the top step at 33½" from the ground. Note the little brass studs on the top of the rear stiles to protect them when used as steps. Large brass hinges and a later metal locking stay. Very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
