An elegant oak long case clock by John Tickell, of Kingsbridge.
 
The oak case of excellent colour and condition, with a pagoda top to the hood.
 
The pretty and well painted 12'' break arch dial with decorative urns in the corners and roses in the arch, having a calendar aperture and subsidiary seconds dial. It has an eight day movement and strikes the hours.
 
John Tickell was the son of John Tickell of Crediton, a well known clockmaker, and he seems to have moved to South Devon, to set upon his own in the late eighteenth century
