A spectacular Edwardian silver easel table mirror made by renowned silversmith Henry Matthews, specialist in silver photograph and mirror frames.
The frame is made in the most ornate sumptuous design; the original bevelled plate contained within a broad repoussé silver frame, richly decorated with dense scroll work, flowers and foliage and surmounted by a Rococo style vacant cartouche.
The rear still has its original blue velvet backing with an easel strut, but the fabric is quite worn.
Fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1909.
Dimensions:
Height - 33 cm
Width - 25 cm
Condition: very good condition with just one tiny loss to gadrooned inner edge of the silver (see photo), otherwise very light surface wear, the glass is in surprisingly good condition with just a couple of minor age-related stains. The velvet at the back is quite worn but can be replaced if desired.
