Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A fusee dial wall clock is a traditional British timekeeper featuring a conical pulley system designed to equalise the torque of the mainspring as it unwinds. Popular during the 19th and early 20th centuries, these round-dial clocks were widely installed in public offices, schools, and railway stations due to their precision.

These clocks traditionally feature heavy cast brass movements, painted sheet iron dials, and turned wooden surrounds crafted from mahogany, oak, or walnut. A hinged brass bezel with a glass window protects the dial and steel clock hands.

Authentic examples contain a mechanical movement driven by a chain or gut line attached to a conical fusee gear, visible behind dial access doors. Look for hand-painted maker details, original brass hinges, heavy cast bezels, and natural age wear on the painted dial surface.

Position the clock as a focal point on a focal wall, in a hallway, or above a console table to introduce historical character. The warm mahogany tones and simple circular geometry integrate into both traditional English interiors and contemporary spaces.

Ensure the internal movement is professionally serviced and lubricated every five to seven years by a qualified horologist. Clean the external wooden surround with a dry microfibre cloth and specialized furniture wax, avoiding liquids or solvents on the painted dial.
