Eagle mirrors gained popularity during the Georgian and Federal periods, often symbolising patriotism and power in British and American interiors.

Authentic pieces are typically constructed from solid mahogany or pine with mahogany veneers, featuring hand-carved wooden details and applied gesso or gilt accents.

Authentication relies on examining the timber grain, hand-cut joinery, old secondary woods, and the presence of hand-silvered or wavy antique mirror glass.

This piece works well as a focal point above a mantelpiece or console table, contrasting traditional craftsmanship with clean, modern furnishings.

Keep the mirror away from direct sunlight and excessive moisture, dust with a soft dry cloth, and avoid commercial cleaning solvents on the wood or gilt surfaces.
