Chair Victorian Early Smokers Bow Ash Elm C1860

19th century
Description

Here have a beautiful Victorian smokers bow armchair c1860. The chair is made from Ash and Elm and as you can see has great colour and patina. The chair looks like it could be a Yorkshire chair with its vase feet it is also stamped on the back GM. This is a chair of great quality by the type of wood used and that important double H stretcher base. The chair has lovely turned spindles and baluster legs and a double sausage stretcher to the side. Many of these chairs can be quite ordinary but his one is a cracker. It has the most delicious grainy Elm seat you willl see. It has had plenty of polish in its life so has a great tactile finish. Importantly it is very comfortable and all the joints are soild and tight. the chair has not lost any height and is in fantastic antique retail condition.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
