Set of Six Bistro Dining Chairs by Thonet C.1900

1900 - 1920
Description

Good set of six small bistro dining chairs by the celebrated bentwood furniture manufacturers Thonet c.1900. Rare design featuring carved top rails with scrolling acanthus detail and a pierced hand grip. Over pressed panels with the embossed decoration repeated (unusually) at the rear, and back stretchers joined with a row of four turned spindles. Pressed panel seats (height 18") within a bentwood frame and raised on good turned and tapering front legs joined with a bentwood stretcher. Thonet stamp to the underside of each chair. Very good condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
