Antique Farmhouse Lathe Back Chair

19th century
Description

A good example of an antique farmhouse chair dating from the late 19th century. It has a shaped elm seat with curved arms supported by turned spindles. It is high backed with lathe supports and it stands on bulbous turned legs joined by stretchers.

It is in good original condition and has developed a lovely patina. There are signs of age and use, some minor marks and knocks around the legs and some light surface marks on the seat but nothing detrimental. There has been a repair to a small old break in one of the supports but the chair is strong and sturdy. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.

The chair stands approximately 44" (112cm) high and is 27" (68cm) wide across the arms. The seat is approximately 17 3/4" (45cm) high and 19" (48cm) deep.
