A 19th Century Walnut Tunbridge Ware Writing Slope C1870, 30cm.
A fine quality late 19th century walnut writing slope with a superb example of marquetry craftsmanship and mother of pearl, presented in excellent structural and decorative condition.
The attractive slope sits well with no loss or obvious distress to the microscopic inlaid detail, a fine example of skilled craftsmanship.
The box opens to reveal its original purple velvet writing slope in mostly very good condition and intact, showing obvious signs of timeworn use whilst remaining very useable, edged with its original tooled leather.
The writing slope tilts up to reveal 2 compartments with an ebonised pen recess and inkwell compartments, no inkwells.
An excellent quality Tunbridge Ware writing slope box of considerable decorative appeal, please note there is no key or inkwells.
