John Mercer was born at either Henfield or Ninfield Sussex and was apprenticed in 1713 to Thomas Barrett at Lewes. He probable moved to Hythe Kent before 1737 till 1779.
His Clockmaker son, also John, was born circa 1738 and was married 1780-97 at Hythe.
Attractive Small Oak Case with Hood Columns Built into the Hood Door, Low Pagoda Top (may well have had 3 gilded/brass ball finials). The Long Trunk Door with original working lock, Bulls Eye Lentil Window. All raised on Bracket Feet.
Small Size at 79in (6ft 7in) or 201cm High.
The 8 day movement has been checked, serviced and tested. Keeping Good Time. Brass Dial with Seconds Dial, Date Window and Urn Spandrels in the 4 Corners.
