The rosewood veneered exterior with decorative mother of pearl inlays, with a rounded front resembling a piano lid with pen and ink divisions behind. The lid to the top with slots marked for letters, notes and calling cards. The lid lifting to reveal a fitted interior with divisions to hold the papers in place.
