Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Jeckyll & Co

A rare model of generous proportions, comfortable and structurally robust. The form is progressive, modern and sculptural, evoking by turns English country house comfort and cutting edge European style.

Handmade, woven cane with rafia-bound edges and brass-tipped feet

40.5'' high x 80cm 31.4'' wide x 82cm 32.2'' deep

Dryad was founded in 1907 by Harry Peach, an environmentalist, social reformer and friend of William Letherby. Benjamin Fletcher, head master of the Leicester School of Art, designed their early chairs, aiming to compete with the high quality cane work furniture imported from Austria and Germany.*

The chair is in sound and usable condition. Some minor, isolated losses to the cane, some areas of the rafia require re-binding

Reliable transport throughout the UK can be easily arranged, please let me know if you would like a quote or have any other questions.
