This is a fine quality antique English oak office chair, made by Cooke’s of Finsbury, London, incorporating a revolving, reclining & height adjustable mechanism, with a newly upholstered green leather seat, from the Edwardian period, circa 1910, in excellent working condition. This oak office chair is designed with a curved bar back, supported by lower fan back supports. The back secures to shaped arms on elegant vertical shaped supports.
The underside of the seat has been re-webbed in the traditional manner. This English oak office chair sits on four splayed oak legs that terminate on English made replacement solid brass castors. The chair incorporates a restored and mechanism allowing it to smoothly rotate 360 degrees and recline backwards.
Condition Report:
This is a fine quality antique English oak office chair, made by Cooke’s of Finsbury, London, incorporating a revolving, reclining & height adjustable mechanism, with a newly upholstered green leather seat, from the Edwardian period, circa 1910, in excellent working condition. The seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain red leather. The reclining and adjustable height mechanism is in good working order, having been cleaned and restored. There is some play to the revolving mechanism but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair. The English antique oak office chair boasts a rich golden-brown oak colour, having been cleaned and French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshop. The English revolving desk chair incorporates replacement English made solid brass castors, which are in excellent working condition. This desk chair is solid in joint and ready to use.
