Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Art Deco design emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, streamlined forms, and the use of luxurious materials such as burr veneers, exotic woods, and contrasting metal accents.

Cabinetmakers during this period typically utilised solid timber carcasses finished with highly figured decorative veneers, such as walnut or burl, complemented by cast brass or bronze hardware.

Authenticity is determined by examining construction techniques, such as traditional dovetail jointing in drawers, the depth and grain of the wood veneers, and the presence of period-appropriate hardware and patination.

Pairing vintage case pieces with modern minimalist decor creates a sophisticated contrast, allowing the rich wood grain and geometric silhouette to serve as a focal point in a bedroom.

Maintain walnut veneer by keeping the furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying a specialist microcrystalline wax to protect the polish.
