Pair Of Robert Manwaring Style Side Chairs

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: William Carr Antiques

A superb pair of mahogany side chairs of generous proportions, in the manner of Robert Manwaring, early 19th Century.

The crisp serpentine crest rails carved with foliage and c-scrolls in the Chinese taste, above adjoining pierced fretted backs centred with carved patera within moulded uprights, raised on chamfered forelegs and splayed rear legs.

With attractive traditionally upholstered needlework seats, complimenting the fine colour of the mahogany.

Both the chairs and upholstery are in very nice condition.

Similar designs can be found in Robert Manwaring’s ‘The Chair-Maker’s Friend, 1765’.
