French Antique Company has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The rest of the frame has a lovely simplicity, just its gorgeous gilt.
It has its original mercury glass in superb condition. Mercury glass was not made after 1840 and gives a sparkle and reflection like no other.
It has its original panelled back.
It would make a wonderful overmantel or just hanging alone on a wall or above a console table in a hall perhaps.
