A lovely early French porcelain clock by Samuel Marti. Beautifully styled in the Rococo style with C scrolls and flowing foliage. Delicately decorated with exquisite bouquets of flowers and heightened with gilt.
The dial is porcelain enamel on copper with blue lettering and finely cut blued steel hands. The dial is signed for the retailer Hodgkins and Co. Please note that this type of clock does not have a front or rear bezel or a rear cover.
The French movement is of high quality and is by Samuel Marti. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. We have a video of the clock, please ask and we will send you a link or paste this into your browser:

Condition of the case is excellent with no significant damage. There is some wear to the over-glaze gilt decoration. Dial is excellent with just a faint hairline.
The clock is marked on the backplate for the clockmaker Samuel Marti and the retailer Hodgkins and Co. Hodgkins and Co are listed as working in 1846 in Watch and Clockmakers of the world by Brian Loomes.
Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
