The movement is effectively the same as ones I have seen with by WH Sch WINTERHALDER & HOFMEIER one of Germany’s top quality early 20th century clock makers.

Please message Robert or contact him on 07899 058752 to discuss, arrange viewing/collection or consider shipping options. For the latter, please supply your postcode.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the seventeenth century, lantern clocks were among the earliest widespread types of domestic timepieces, recognised by their brass box construction, top-mounted bell dome, and decorative pierced frets.

Traditional lantern clocks are constructed primarily from cast and sheet brass, featuring steel or iron hands, turned corner pillars, and engraved brass chapter rings surrounding mechanical movements.

Horological specialists identify period pieces by inspecting maker marks stamped on the movement or dial plate, examining the construction style of the pillars, and assessing natural oxidisation across the brass surfaces.

A brass lantern clock serves as a focal accent when positioned on a dark wooden mantelpiece, styled within a tailored bookshelf, or placed alongside minimal modern ceramics to create visual contrast.

The external brass case requires light dusting with a dry microfibre cloth to preserve the patina, avoiding harsh metal polishes, while the internal mechanical movement should be serviced periodically by a professional clockmaker.
