A rare wedge shaped laterndluhr Vienna regulator with a two train weight driven movement of exceptional quality. The eight day movement strikes the hours on a spiral gong and is powered by two brass bound weights. This beautiful miniaturised example of a Viennese type movement has all the elements of its larger counterparts, including a pull repeat lever and elongated deadbeat escapement, and the pendulum is suspended from the case on a knife edge pivot. The crisp white enamel dial signed W. Blätterbauer, Fünfkirche, has a gilded engraved surround with roman numerals and blued steel hands. The case is made of ebonised fruit wood with contrasting string inlay with glazed front and sides surmounted but a pediment top. This clock dates from the 1830’s, made in Fünfkirche, now know as Pécs in Hungary, during the Austro-Hungarian Empire and is rare due its size and shape, as well as unusually being a more complex striking movement rather than a timepiece.All of our clocks come w...
