This chair is expertly carved from the finest Mahogany, retaining a wonderful and original colour.
As referenced in 'Gillows of Lancaster and London 1730-1840' by Susan E. Stuart page 203, plate 177.

A similar pair also stamped 'RC' can be found at Abbot Hall, Kendal which are stamped Gillow of Lancaster, structurally sound with historic traces of woodworm to underside seat rails.
