Pair Of George III Hall Chairs

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: William Carr Antiques

An incredibly smart pair of George III Mahogany hall chairs, with elaborately painted winged coronets adorning the circular backs. C.1780

The wide bowfront dished seats raised on square tapering legs with spade feet.

Provenance: John George Joicey Bequest Collection

Interestingly the fine armorial emblazoned onto their backs is likely to be associated with Beatrice Bulteel who married the Earl of Durham in 1879.

Their daughter Lady Joan Katherine Lambton married Hugh Edward Joicey in 1921, possibly explaining the chairs integration into the Joicey collection.
