French Antique Company has dated this piece to the 1850s.
Magnificent 19th century French gilt Louis XV leaner mirror in superb condition.
It dates from around 1840.
There are no chips.

It has its wonderful original double bevelled mercury glass with no scratches. Bevelled mercury glass is so hard to find and gives a sparkle and reflection like no other! Mercury glass was not made after 1840.
It has all its original pine backboards.
It would have originally been used as an overmantel mirror above a fireplace in a grand room with very high ceilings but it could also be used as a leaner mirror in a lounge, hall or bedroom.
Antique gilt mirrors of this size, condition and quality are incredibly hard to come by.
Photos of the back to follow tomorrow.
