Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Vienna regulator is a highly precise pendulum wall clock originally developed in Austria during the early 19th century. Known for their weight-driven movements and clean, architectural glazed cases, these clocks were designed to offer superior timekeeping accuracy.

Traditional Vienna regulators feature wooden cases crafted from walnut, mahogany, or rosewood, often embellished with ebony accents or veneers. The clockwork consists of brass movements, steel cables or cords, brass weights, and a porcelain or enamel dial with Roman numerals.

Authentic 19th-century examples typically display fine joinery, full-length glazed front doors, original enamel or porcelain dials, and weight-driven pendulum mechanisms rather than spring-driven ones. Later mass-produced imitations often lack the refined proportions and precision engineering of authentic Austrian movements.

A Vienna regulator serves as a striking vertical focal point on a neutral or dark accent wall. Position it in a hallway, library, or dining room where its architectural lines and warm timber tones can contrast cleanly against modern minimal furnishings.

Ensure the clock is mounted perfectly level on a sturdy wall to allow the pendulum to swing freely. The mechanical movement should be inspected, lubricated, and serviced by a professional horologist every five to seven years to prevent wear on the brass bushings.
