Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the late nineteenth century, Aesthetic Movement cabinetry emphasises decorative art for its own sake, featuring delicate marquetry inlay, asymmetrical shelving, turned supports, and influence from classical and East Asian artistic traditions.

Makers utilised dark hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, or ebonised walnut as primary timbers, complemented by boxwood, ivory, or bone inlays, mirrored glass panels, and brass hardware.

Authentic Collinson & Lock pieces frequently feature impressed maker stamps or metal plaque labels on door edges or drawer linings, alongside precise hand-cut joinery, refined marquetry arabesques, and superior timber selection.

Position the piece as a focal point against a neutral backdrop in a dining room, hallway, or drawing room, balancing its rich timber tones and intricate inlaid detail with simple modern ceramics or understated lighting.

Dust regularly with a dry, lint-free microfibre cloth and apply a thin layer of natural beeswax annually to preserve the finish, keeping the cabinet away from direct sunlight, radiators, and sudden changes in humidity to protect the inlay.
