A beautiful and fine quality iron box by the Okuno Co , profusely and finely inlaid in gold and silver . The condition is exemplary , the silver and gold sides of the box have mellowed to a wonderful steel blue colour , the top is stunning . The small and beautifully inlaid feet bear an Imperial mon in the decoration .Meiji period with Okuno inlaid gold seal .This box could well be mistaken for the work of Komai , there is a reason . The Okuno Co was set up by the sister of Komai and obviously copied his designs and techniques and certainly kept the quality of the Komai factory .Don has been dealing in Meiji period art for 60 years , exhibiting in London , New York , Baltimore , Miami and Shanghai.
