1st Empire Mahogany Desk Chair

Description

Good early 19th century French 1st Empire Charles X period mahogany and boxwood inlaid desk chair. Tub shaped desk chair of great design with drop in upholstered seat. The chair has nice shaped front legs with swept out back legs. The chair is nicely inlaid all over with a boxwood marquetry type design. It is very comfortable to sit in. The chair is in good sturdy condition and is a pleasing mellow colour.

There are a couple of minor old veneer repairs and one of the back legs has a minor historic repair but is perfectly solid.

Sold in 1998 for £1650 (we have the original receipt with the chair)

SIZE; 22" wide by 20" deep by 33 1/2" high. Seat height is 18".
