Mahogany Desk Chair, Probably by J Shoolbred and Company

Description

Circa 1890. A mahogany desk chair in the manner of ‘James Shoolbred’. The shaped and curved cresting rail supported by 15 shaped uprights, the two curved arms with ribbing on the inside, supported on a pair of turned columns. The large stuff over upholstered seat with a ribbed seat rail to the front, with shaped back legs, front legs turned ring turned, tapering and fluted finishing on an elegant extended toe.
