A powerful and vibrant deep seated Howard style armchair, in a William Morris ''strawberry thief'' inspired tapestry fabric. C.1890
 
This English 19th century armchair has a high quality Beech frame with Oak legs, stamped to both rear legs and raised on original brass and ceramic casters.
 
The main subject of this repeating pattern is the thrushes that frequently stole the strawberries in the kitchen garden of Morris’s countryside home, Kelmscott Manor, in Oxfordshire.
