A marvellous late 19th Century Mahogany open armchair, after a design by Robert Manwaring in the Chinese taste. C.1890
 
The finely shaped and carved cresting rail with foliate carving to the sides, the back with a Chinese pierced honeycomb pattern, as seen in the English Furniture, Woodwork and Decoration during the 18th Century by T.A. Strange, page 91, plate 20.
 
The two crisp and stylish arms supported on shaped uprights, with a drop in seat recently re-upholstered in a cream silk.
