A fine quality Victorian ebonised and metal mounted armchair in the French taste. The chair is wonderful quality throughout with a hardwood frame, probably mahogany that has been given the lacquered ebonised finish. The mounts are most likely brass and profusely applied all over the chair, they are beautifully detailed and cast. The ceramic castors as the original and in good condition. The upholstery is old and has some wear but actually is very useable and works very well with the piece. The whole is in good condition with only the odd minor loss to the mounts. The armchair is solid and robust of construction with generous room and makes a comfortable seat. The whole has a great look and makes an impressive decorative statement. C.1860.
