An Edwardian music cabinet is a specialised piece of furniture produced during the Edwardian era, roughly spanning from 1901 to 1910, designed specifically to store sheet music and scores for home pianos and instruments.

These cabinets were typically constructed from timbers such as walnut, mahogany, or satinwood, featuring dovetailed joinery, brass gallery rails, glass-panelled doors, and interior shelving or drop-front drawers.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery techniques, traditional hand-finished polish, period brass hardware, and timber patination consistent with early twentieth-century manufacturing methods.

Such cabinets function effectively as compact storage units or side pieces in living spaces, studies, or hallways, offering practical surface space on top and concealed storage within.

Preservation involves keeping the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent warping, dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, and occasionally applying appropriate wax polish to nourish the wood.
