A calendar clock is a timepiece designed to display the day, date, and month alongside the standard time, gaining significant popularity during the 19th and mid-20th centuries as precision manufacturing improved.

These clocks typically feature brass frameworks, steel components, and glass domes, supported by wooden bases made from timbers such as mahogany or walnut.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished brass gearing, maker signatures on the dial or movement plate, and appropriate weight and oxidisation consistent with their stated era.

Placing a mechanical clock on a study desk, bookshelf, or mantelpiece allows it to serve as a functional focal point that adds industrial or vintage charm to contemporary spaces.

Maintenance involves professional periodic servicing of the mechanical movement, dusting with a soft microfibre cloth, and avoiding chemical polishes on aged brass surfaces.
