FAQs

Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, shifted away from the heavy ornamentation of the Victorian era towards lighter, neoclassical designs often featuring satinwood inlay and refined proportions.

These cabinets were typically constructed from a mahogany or satinwood carcase, accented with intricate marquetry or stringing inlay, hand-cut dovetail joints on internal drawers, and brass hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct joinery, natural timber shrinkage, hand-applied polish, and genuine brass or bronze fittings rather than modern reproductions.

Pair the warm tones of the timber with contemporary neutral walls and minimalist surrounding furniture to highlight the craftsmanship and create a striking focal point.

Keep the wood conditioned using microcrystalline wax, avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading, and maintain a stable indoor humidity to protect the joinery and inlay.
