An Edwardian bracket clock is a portable mechanical timepiece produced during the Edwardian era, typically featuring a wooden case designed to sit on a bracket, shelf, or mantelpiece.

These clocks are generally constructed from a hardwood frame, such as mahogany or satinwood, often enhanced with marquetry or string inlay, and brass fittings housing a mechanical spring-driven movement.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-painted or enamelled metal dials, traditional brass movements with serial numbers, and genuine wood patina rather than artificial ageing.

It can be positioned on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or bookcase to introduce traditional craftsmanship, rich wood tones, and classic horological interest to contemporary spaces.

Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity, dust the wood surface regularly with a dry cloth, and have the mechanical movement professionally serviced every few years.
