This 18th century Sheraton bedside cupboard takes the form of an English country house side table in warm brown mahogany and brass. The piece exhibits a raised tray top with cutout side handles, a single cabinet door centred with a flame mahogany veneer panel, and a small round brass knob handle positioned on the right edge. Four square tapered legs support the rectangular body, while visible brass hinges secure the left side of the door. The timber displays natural grain variations throughout. Practical dimensions measure 76 cm high, 43 cm wide, and 33 cm deep. This compact storage unit functions ideally as a bedside table or a small accent cabinet in a bedroom, living room, or hallway to hold daily essentials while adding a traditional aesthetic to the interior space.

FAQs

Sheraton style furniture, originating in late 18th-century England, is defined by delicate proportions, slender square tapered or turned legs, geometric outlines, and rich wood veneers such as mahogany and satinwood.

Georgian bedside cupboards were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany and featured flame mahogany or figured wood veneers, complemented by brass cabinet hardware and hand-dovetailed internal joinery.

Authentic period pieces exhibit signs of hand craftsmanship, including irregular dovetail joints, hand-planed back and drawer panels, authentic oxidation on brass fittings, and natural wood shrinkage along timber grains.

An antique mahogany nightstand can be integrated into contemporary spaces by pairing it with crisp linen bedding, neutral wall tones, and modern minimalist lighting to create balanced visual contrast.

Maintain mahogany furniture by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year, keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
