Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of tall bedside chests dates from the 1920 Georgian style period and is constructed from mahogany with a warm brown finish. Each chest has a five-drawer configuration with graduated drawers displaying flame mahogany drawer fronts, fitted with brass swan-neck handles, and resting on shaped bracket feet. Moulded tops and drawer surrounds complete the design, showing age-related marks and surface wear consistent with antique condition. Measuring 113 cm high, 53 cm wide, and 53 cm deep, these narrow pieces occupy minimal floor space while offering substantial vertical storage. In a modern home, these chests suit placement beside a bed in a principal bedroom or guest room to provide concealed bedside storage. Their compact footprint also allows them to function effectively as occasional storage units in a narrow hallway, a study, or a dressing room where surface area and drawer space are both required.

FAQs

Georgian style bedside chests feature classic proportions, flame timber veneers, simple geometric drawer configurations, and functional elegance tailored for bedroom storage.

Fine mahogany chests typically utilise solid timber framing alongside flame mahogany face veneers, dovetailed drawer linings, and cast brass handles.

Authentic period construction displays hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer linings, original brass hardware with backplates, shaped bracket feet, and natural patination across the timber surfaces.

Position them symmetrically on either side of an upholstered or timber bed frame, topped with modern table lamps and minimalist brass accessories to balance warm wood tones with modern design.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish periodically, keeping timber away from direct sunlight, central heating sources, and liquid spills.
