A Georgian longcase clock, commonly known as a grandfather clock, is a tall, weight-driven pendulum clock enclosed in a wooden case, developed during the reigns of the Georges in Britain.

These clocks were typically constructed from hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, often featuring brass dial faces, glass panels, and lead or iron weights.

Authentic pieces often feature hand-painted or engraved brass dials with maker signatures, hand-cut gear teeth, period-appropriate timber shrinkage, and original weights and pendulums.

Position the clock against a neutral wall in a hallway or living room to let its architectural timber grain and classic proportions serve as a focal point.

Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and fluctuating heat sources, ensure it is placed on a level surface, and have the mechanical movement serviced periodically by a professional horologist.
