A fine example of an eight day longcase clock with wonderful full brass dial, moon roller and date hand. The superb mahogany case has a cross banded door veneered in flame mahogany with reeded columns to the sides, the base also has a cross banded panel and the original ogee feet. The hood has a swan neck with a carved and gilded swag of flowers above the original eglomise panels, topped with three finials and a pagoda.
Isaac Hadwen and his family are recorded working in Ormskirk and Liverpool
The dial and movement of the best Lancashire quality and case is probably by Gillows
The fully cleaned movement has a 2 year warranty
Our stock includes early oak and walnut furniture from the 18th century, as well as more formal pieces from the Georgian period. Clocks, barometers and globes are complemented by Colonial cabinets, furniture and early arms. Their scientific instruments, which include early microscopes, telescopes and equipment such as sextants, provide a fascinating insight into the evolution of technology, whilst demonstrating fine artistry and craftsmanship. One of Hansord’s many exhibitions was entitled ‘From simplicity to complexity with a little eccentricity’ and this continues to be the guiding mantra behind their collection today.
