Description

Unusual pair of Georgian inlaid mahogany and satinwood concave bedside cabinets or sofa end tables. Great detail to the marquetry inlaid door panels in the Adam’s style.

They are of a very practical size for bedside cabinets and both have an adjustable shelf with a working lock and key.

Being Georgian and especially with them being concave fronts, there are some age lines to the door panels, although not of any concern (just mentioning them).

Great pair of very useful cabinets!

Measuring:

29 3/4 inches or 75.5 cm high

19 inches or 48.5 cm wide

23 3/4 inches or 60.5 cm deepest point.

Georgian and Regency furniture is characterised by classical proportions, symmetrical designs, and the use of fine timbers such as mahogany, often accented with delicate marquetry or stringing.

These pieces typically utilise solid secondary woods with fine veneers applied to the exterior, complemented by boxwood or satinwood inlay, hand-cut dovetail joints, and traditional cabinet-making joinery.

Authenticity is verified by examining the timber ageing, interior construction methods, hand-cut joinery, type of screws or fixings used, and natural wear patterns consistent with age.

Pairing antique wood furniture with minimalist modern lighting and neutral textiles creates a balanced, layered aesthetic that highlights the craftsmanship of the vintage pieces.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels, keep the wood out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, and periodically nourish the surface with a quality microcrystalline wax rather than modern silicone polishes.
