Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These nineteenth-century Regency side cabinets comprise a matching pair formed from warm brown figured mahogany with flame mahogany veneers, complemented by ormolu and brass mountings. Each rectangular top sits above double arched panel doors, which feature decorative gilt metal corner mounts and ornate vertical brass hardware along the centre junction. Floral gilded brass motifs run along the upper and lower borders of the doors, adding formal classical detailing to the dark timber surfaces, while Brahma locks secure the interiors. Every cabinet rests solidly upon a plain stepped plinth base, maintaining clean architectural lines throughout the design. Each individual cabinet measures 99 cm high, 75 cm wide, and 23 cm deep, presenting a streamlined profile suitable for narrower architectural spaces. These storage pieces suit placement in a traditional hallway, study, or living room, providing display surfaces above and functional shelving behind enclosed doors for books or decorative items.

FAQs

Regency style furniture, originating in early 19th-century Britain, is characterised by classical proportions, rich mahogany veneers, and intricate brass or bronze ormolu mounts inspired by Greco-Roman motifs.

Cabinets from this era feature solid timber carcasses faced with highly figured flame mahogany veneers, hand-cut dovetail joinery, and gilded cast brass or bronze decorative mounts.

Authenticity can be determined by examining hand-cut cabinet construction, uneven oxidisation on the rear timber panels, period-appropriate lock mechanisms, and original cast metal mounts.

A pair of cabinets can be arranged symmetrically flanking a fireplace or doorway, providing balanced storage while grounding formal living spaces or dining rooms.

Apply high-grade beeswax polish along the wood grain annually, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, and clean the gilt metal mounts gently with a soft dry cloth.
