An English spring-driven clock whose movement uses a fusee, a tapered grooved barrel pulled by gut line or chain, to even out the mainspring's force as it runs down.
The oldest fusee clock sampled on Sellingantiques is an ebonised double fusee bracket clock dated 1700. Dealer-entered dates run right up to 1960.
