A lovely crusty Geo III Bracket Clock by John Grant of Fleet Street, London. He is listed as working there from 1781 to 1810.
The case is in nicely figured mahogany and it has retained its original finials, handle and brass ogee feet.
The good quality double fusee movement strikes the hour on a bell and has a smart engraved silvered dial. It also has the all important strike / silent selector.
The case is in good original condition, is a lovely colour and has retained its original finish.
The movement is in good clean condition and it is keeping good time. The movement possibly originally had a verge escapement and this may have been changed to the current more accurate and reliable anchor escapement. This has been well done and was probably carried out in the early 19th Cent.
